Fatal Truck Accident on I-75 North Leaves Three Dead

A collision between a tractor-trailer and an SUV on I-75 in Marietta, Georgia has led to three tragic deaths. Though no information has been released about the cause of the incident, multiple news outlets are reporting that the tractor-trailer hit the SUV near the entrance ramp of the North Marietta Parkway. The SUV driver and two passengers all died at the scene of the crash.

This is the second deadly tractor-trailer accident on I-75 this month, and one of a handful of collisions this year. The number of truck accidents on I-75 has been increasing for years, making it one of the deadliest roadways in Georgia. It has earned a reputation as one of the worst highways in the state for fatal tractor-trailer and truck collisions. In fact, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) wants to build a two-lane, truck only highway that runs parallel to I-75 specifically to reduce the traffic – and the number of accidents – on the road. It would be the first of its kind in the country.

It cannot come too soon.

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims. We hope the investigation into the fatal crash yields them the answers they want and deserve to have.
